On Sept 19, Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), who is in Belarus for an official goodwill visit, together with Belarusian Prime Minister Myasnikovich, attended the inauguration ceremony of Minsk No.2 thermal power plant undertaken by CCOEC.
President Ma Zhiwu briefed Chairman Wu on the construction of the project, trial-run of the units and CCOEC’s progress in developing the Belarusian market in the sectors of power energy, medicinal chemical industry and infrastructure as well. Taking heed of the report by President Ma, Chairman Wu praised CCOEC for its contribution to the promotion of political and economic cooperation between China and Belarus. He encouraged the Corporation to further develop the market in Belarus and explore new area of cooperation, taking the opportunity of China and Belarus strengthening their mutual trust in politics and strategic cooperation. He said the Corporation should construct “model project” of cooperation between the two countries, through elaborate design, organizing and meticulous construction.
At 5:30, Chairman Wu, together with Belarusian Prime Minister Myasnikovich, pressed down the start button in the central control room. The real-time operating data was displayed on screen at once, with thunderous applause.
