Vanuatu located in south pacific island was hit by cyclone Pam on 14th, March 2015 local time. Chinese government has decided to provide RMB 30 million yuan worth of relief supplies for emergent humanitarian aid. Adhering with great attention to this relief assistance, MOFCOM announced CCOEC won the bid for the above project on late 18th, March.
Facing so many difficulties such as tight schedule of delivery, heavy work and complicated transportation plan, CCOEC kicked off the preparation for procurement and transportation the same night of winning the bid with great sense of mission and responsibility.
On the afternoon of March 21, a chartered plane loaded with 260 tents, the first batch of emergency humanitarian aid from the Chinese government to Vanuatu took off, which was reported by CCTV and other medias in China. At 18:00 of March 22 Beijing time (21:00 of March 21 local time), the plane was arrived in Port Vila International Airport. Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Xie Bohua and Prime Minister of Vanuatu Joe Natuman attended the handover ceremony at the airport. In his speech, on behalf of Vanuatu government and people, Prime Minister Joe Natuman extended great appreciation to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and the Chinese people for prompt and huge disaster assistance.
Relief supplies about 170 tons such as canvas, generators and food will be delivered to Vanuatu by CCOEC in the coming days. CCOEC will make every effort to make sure the successfully execution of this emergency assistance.
